How to play
All details of how to play multiplayer games are covered in the general Game Controls.
Rules
Rummy Club is a board game from the Orient, where it is known as Okey. The game is for 2-4 players. It is played with a total of 106 stones, which come in four colours (red, green, yellow and black) and are numbered from 1 to 13. In addition, there are 2 Jokers. Each player begins with 14 stones. The direction of play is anti-clockwise.
The aim of the game is to build groups and sequences on the game board. A group consists of at least 3 stones with the same number, e.g. three 5s or four 12s. The stones in a group, however, must all be a different colour. A sequence is a row of ascending like-coloured stones, e.g. Red 8, Red 9, Red 10. The 1 can be laid at either end of a sequence, e.g. ‘1, 2, 3’ or ‘12, 13, 1’. A sequence of ‘13, 1, 2’ is not possible.
A new stone must be taken at the start of each turn. The player can take the new stone from one of the 2-4 discard piles (depending on the number of players) or from the stack in the middle. If a player has placed all but one of his/her stones in groups or sequences, and therefore covered the board, the player wins the round. If not, a stone must be discarded and the next player may take his/her turn. The game ends as a draw once all of the stones have been taken from the covered stack in the middle.
Hint:
There are two ways to finish the round with double points:
- the last piece remaining after completing the board is a Joker
- instead of groups and sequences, the player collects pairs and ends the game with 7 pairs. A pair consists of two identical stones, e.g. two Red 3s.
