Rules
Boule can be played by 2 or 3 players in direct competition. The aim of the game is to get your balls closer to the jack than your opponent(s).
At the start of the game the playing surface is chosen at random (sand, earth or grass) and the obstacles (such as water and hills) are placed. A player is then selected to throw the jack. If the jack lands too close to the player or out of bounds, the throw must be taken again. If the player fails to make a valid throw three times, the duty of throwing the jack passes to the next player.
By clicking on the playing field and drawing the mouse back, you can determine the direction and power of the throw. A power bar below the playing field displays the strength of the throw. Ahead of the throw you can also determine the pitch by adjusting the arrow to the bottom left of the playing field. The flight of the throw in accordance with the power and pitch are displayed when taking the throw itself. Releasing the mouse button releases the ball.
Once the jack has been thrown, the next player takes his/her first throw, attempting to get the ball as close to the jack as possible. All of the players must have thrown one ball before the player, who is furthest from the jack must throw again.
The round comes to an end once all of the balls have been thrown. Only the player, whose ball is closest to the jack at the end of the round, scores points. One point is awarded for every ball, which is closer to the jack than any of the opponent’s balls.
The winner of the round throws the jack at the beginning of the next round from the position where the jack last landed.
The player who reaches the predetermined point total (1, 4, 7, 10 or 13) wins the game. A draw is not possible.
